BRIDGE PROJECT UPDATE

The Matamoras / Port Jervis bridge repair work officially started on 4/1/2010. The single lane closure was placed into action and barriers were placed to separate the work zone from the single south bound travel lane.

PennDOT has advised us that the single lane construction traffic pattern will remain through early July 2010.

The present recommendation for all traffic is that anyone wishing to travel to Port Jervis must utilize Rte 84 East to Exit 1 in Port Jervis. There will be no route of travel other than Rte 84 to Port Jervis.

We further recommend that all motorists avoid the area of the Matamoras / Port Jervis Bridge if possible.

We ask that all motorists utilize good judgment and follow the posted traffic warning devices. Early reports indicate that some motorists are attempting to ignore the signage and travel north across the bridge in the single south bound lane. This is not only highly dangerous but also illegal and violators will be ticketed and fined.

As we receive information and progress updates from PennDOT, we will post them on our web page on and radio station. Please stay tuned to this station for additional updates.
